1.15.2017

We're still dealing with ice issues on the driveway and I wasn't brave enough to try it on my own, so I went out with Jim after lunch.  Sunday's are always our short days but, as always, Jim manages to make good progress!

This morning he started on the other valley rafter wall - this one between the kitchen and the laundry room.  He started by putting studs on the very end of the wall.

Then he made the blocking pieces to go in between the rafters...

Attaching the blocking...

It's amazing - this is our last piece of steel that we had brought up into the apartment.  Jim has almost used all of the steel he picked up this week - he'll be putting another order in tomorrow.  He's cutting the track for the top of the wall...

All of these pieces have lots of different angles on them so nothing is simple.  Putting the track in place...

Using the level to make sure the track is plumb with the bottom track.

Then taking measurements for the stud...

Fastening the stud into place...

And another stud is in place...

End-of-the-day picture of our wall!  Just needs a few more studs!

Thankfully, Jim was able to get up and down the driveway without issues.  The sun was out and melted a layer of ice on top which gave a little traction.  That will freeze overnight though so we'll see how things are tomorrow!
