1.20.2017

Jim had a visit from the tax assessor this morning at the property - they come out once a year and take pictures so we'll see how much more our taxes are going to be...groan.

I am still busy with fire school and in addition had a quick doctor appointment and a trip to pick up printing, but I was able to stop out to the property for a tour this afternoon.

I was really blown away by how things look in the apartment.  Since I've been there, things just feel more like a home.  It's hard to explain but rooms are coming to life and they each have their own personality.  I was like a little kid - just so exciting!  I got to see all the detail work he's done this week - everything from the closet to the attic floor and everything in between!

With the wood he got at Lowe's last night, Jim made the door frame in the bathroom...

And got all the wiring done in the bathroom!  So the light works by flipping on the switch and we even have a GFI outlet installed.

Jim took down the rest of the scaffolding that has been up in the apartment for a very long time so now it looks more like an apartment and less like a construction site!  On the kitchen floor, Jim drew the area where the table will go as well as the other wall for the back of the booth.  Of course, Jim has great ideas for cabinetry in all these areas - I can't wait!

After I left, Jim worked on the electric work in the hallway.  This is a close up of some of the detail work that takes so long.  There is very little room in between these studs, and the wire from this circuit has to be run along the top of the wall.  Jim has to be able to screw these fasteners in place to hold the wire - but there's no way to get in between the studs.  But his driver extension bar wasn't quite long enough to reach even when he drilled a hole in the stud.  So he had to get his step bit and drill a hole big enough for the head of the driver to fit through so that he could get this fastened!

This is the receptacle in the hallway leading into the kitchen...this is where my hutch will go so we definitely need a light!
