7.30.2016

Prep work takes longer now that we are finished with long runs in the back and have more complicated issues to address.  So we had already decided that today would just be a one batch day in the afternoon.  Jim spent the morning doing lots of tasks...

He took apart the sawhorse scaffolding from the back and brought it around to the front so that he is able to work higher.

Then he built a scaffolding tower on the other side of the garage door to enable him to work on the brick in this corner as well as the roof eventually.

This back section looks even more amazing with all the scaffolding gone!

Jim is using the hammer drill to install the electric box for the outdoor lighting...

At lunch, we checked the weather forecast.  It called for some showers in the afternoon so we decided not to try and force in a batch of mortar.

We turned our attention to finishing up all of the membrane and brick flashing on the front.

This brick flashing is complicated to put on but we have a good system - Jim gives me the measurements and we have a specific way to cut the pieces so that overlaps perfectly to keep any water out.

All done!

We kept checking the weather and it kept showing the possibility of showers so we definitely scrapped brick work.  Instead, Jim started working on the stairs again.  He got all the end pieces made and welded on.  Then he started welding the clip angles on.  Won't be long before this stair run can be installed - very exciting!

We have the most interesting frogs on Angel.  I was cleaning up in the back of the building, putting scaffolding pieces away and getting rid of some block we had back there.  This frog definitely looks alien - look at its eyes!  Plus, we definitely have chameleon frogs that blend in with their background!

At the end of the day, we still had gotten no raindrops.  But that's okay - we still made lots of progress.  There are so many places that Jim can work now - sometimes it's good to turn attention to something else for awhile!
