7.19.2016

It was just a gorgeous day today - temperatures in the low 70s with a crazy blue sky and sunshine all around.  Pretty much perfect!

Since Jim had done a lot of the prep work yesterday, we didn't have too much to do before we got started with our first mortar batch.

Starting in the front...

Building up the front corner...

...then moving around back.

Jointing the front...

After lunch, time to get ready for the next batch.  I cut and bent more brick ties and Jim got them attached, plus he did more marking.

Second batch ready to go!

Another row in the front...

The doctor told Jim that being active helps with kidney stones - ha!  I was joking with him about some of the contorted positions he gets into doing all this work, including crouching down to do all the brickwork on these low sections.

Working around the back...

Jointing...

End-of-the-day picture of the back...

This is a picture from the opposite corner of the back main part of the building - the brickwork is really getting high now!

The front at the end of the day...

Final clean up...

Jim stayed at the end of the day to cut more bricks and to do some more upper driveway grading.
