9.17.2025

I picked up a new bottom garage door seal for Jim today after I visited with Mom.  It's not as easy to replace as on our other doors, but he'll add that to his to-do list to replace the one the mice ate.

In the afternoon, we were back to moving and organizing our building supplies.  Jim straightened up the steel we moved yesterday...

Then he got ready to move all our rebar...

Lifting it up...

We moved the blocks and saddles over to our pile...

Carefully moving the rebar back - the pieces are so long he had to do some maneuvering...

We moved the pieces by hand into the saddles so now everything is organized...

The excavator started right up and Jim brought it over to first move a tree, and then he was going to use it to dig out some rocks in another area that cause issues when he's mowing.  But first, digging a new hole for the little pine tree...

This pine tree actually grew up between the slats of a pallet that was stacked vertically, so it's a bit flat and misshapen.  But we thought we'd see if it would grow.

But of course we found two giant rocks right there too...

Bringing over the tree...

Hopefully it will grow in its new spot...

Unfortunately, as Jim was digging, we noticed a substantial leak from one of the cylinders.  Jim didn't want to use it any more so he parked it and will have to investigate repair options.  When you have all this stuff, you are constantly fixing something!

Jim had to move the rocks with the Bobcat...

He did a little grading in this area - he wants to flatten it out and move the bricks here.  But he thinks he'll need more dirt.

This area looks much nicer now though.  It will be good to just get all the supplies in order and ready to go, but still be out of the way.

After Jim put the equipment away, he went and got diesel fuel to end off the day.
