11.11.2020

With all the news about Covid taking over our thoughts and the airwaves, hopefully we all took time today to think about all the veterans who have served our country to allow us the freedoms we enjoy today.  Of course, in my thoughts specifically are Jim (Air Force), my dad (Air Force) and Jim's dad (Merchant Marines).

Our Indian summer has come to an end - today was our transition day and was rainy on/off, especially in the afternoon.

Jim started plastering on the front wall of the stairwell today...

Then he started one of his least favorite jobs - sanding.  He concentrated on the corners of the upper landing this morning...

It's such a messy job, but Jim is good about cleaning up too!

In the afternoon, he transitioned to starting the electric work in the metal shop.  He has to feed all the wires from the lights and outlets across this whole area into the box.  The first conduit is already filled up with wires, so he needed to add another 2" conduit.  However, there was no room at the top so he decided to make access at the side.  Of course, it is attached to a steel stud so he had to first drill a 2" hole through that, then work on getting the knockout in the box out with very little room...

But he got it...

Figuring out placement of the pull elbow...

He had to bend this piece of conduit to connect the run...

It's amazing - PVC conduit is another victim of issues from Covid.  If you go to Lowe's or Home Depot, there are no straight pieces to be had.  Jim needs another piece of 1" conduit - what he paid $3 for not too long ago is now $11 at the electric supply company!  But at least they have it; he may go tomorrow to pick that up.

High 63/Low 44 - light rain
