2.7.2019

We were grateful to wake up to power this morning - we had ice and freezing rain overnight.  Thankfully all was well - especially since we didn't have to leave the carriage house!

Jim started taking apart and exploring the molder today.  This is the one casualty of moving that we had - not bad considering everything we moved over 500 miles!  Plus, so many things were moved multiple times from storage unit to the barn back to the carriage house.  But when we were moving the molder from the barn, Jim just didn't get it strapped down - it was the case of, we'll strap that before we leave and then forgot.  As soon as he made the first turn in the truck, he and Kyle heard it fall.  Jim ordered the obvious broken parts about a year ago...like these outer steel covers.

The shiny new pieces...

But once he started delving into it, there were a lot of other parts that were broken, like gears...

And both of these drive shafts are bent...

It was a complicated puzzle just to get things broken down enough so that Jim knows what parts he needs to order.  He thinks he has a list now so he'll be ordering those.  This tool will allow Jim to make the baseboard and window moldings.  For long time readers of the blog, this is the machine that Jim and Kyle used to make giant frames for an exhibit Kyle was doing in Chicago (and then drove them to Chicago!).

This afternoon, Jim turned his attention to the metal shop where he did some more assembling on the drill press.  This replaces his old drill press that he sold before we moved and he's very happy with all the features.  He needs to order some specific drill bits that he needs for a steel project that is coming up to store his wood.

Then he starting planning and working on running the pathway for the 240V line in this bay.  Using the hot knife to cut through the ICFs...

All cut!  Jim even got one receptacle box attached into the concrete...
