2.5.2019

Jim worked this morning on getting the garage door opener back in good shape - he got all the wiring straightened up and attached to the angle and then calibrated the opening/closing points.

All done!  You can see how high it goes up now - if Jim needs to bring the Bobcat in this bay, we will no longer have to prop the garage door up.

He opened up the replacement reflectors and got the first one installed.  He's not thrilled with them and he said they were a pain to install, but they work fine.  We're just so happy that we were able to get all of the lights Jim really likes for upstairs in the wood shop.

Jim got some of his pieces to start putting together the plumbing for the air compressor, so he got that started.

Next up was unpacking the new drill press.  The base was in a box by itself, so Jim got that out and put where he wants it to go for now.

The crate that the drill press came in was unbelievable and very reminiscent of the classic Christmas Story crate - so much so that I had my doubts about what was really inside - ha!  But it was packaged so well - there was a metal strip along all the top edges with notches on the bottom that bent over and held it in place.  Even the giant air compressor came packaged in cardboard so this was really great.

No leg lamp - just a heavy duty drill press!

The drill press was bolted down to a small pallet and then to a larger one.  In order to more easily maneuver it, Jim needed to get it off the big pallet.  So he brought the Bobcat in...

He lifted it up and I got the big pallet out from underneath.

Next step was to hook it up to Jim's engine hoist...

Then he was able to lift it up and unscrew it from the small pallet...

Time to move it very slowly and carefully through the shop...

Continuing to move it...

Then Jim had to start slowly getting it into place...

Getting it in position on the base...

All in place and fastened down!  There is still lots of wiring and assembly to go but the hard part of getting it moved is done.
