4.15.2018

We definitely made a good decision to stay in town and go to church last night because we had a thick coating of ice and sleet to deal with this morning.  The winter weather advisory is still in effect until Monday but there is also snow in the forecast for Tuesday.

Jim worked some electric issues this morning.  He had put the ceiling light in the laundry room but when he turned the light on, it tripped the breaker.  He took it apart and couldn't see anything wrong with the wiring.  Today he put a regular light bulb back in and it worked fine; he tried the light fixture in another spot and it again tripped the breaker.  These are LED fixtures so there is obviously something wrong with this one.  Back to Lowe's it will go for a replacement.  Meanwhile, the new light looks awesome!

Jim had a ton of prep work to do today to continue with the next step in the kitchen/hallway ceiling.  He first had to lightly scrape the entire ceiling just to remove any possible drips leftover from the texturing process.  Then he had to sand all of the wall edges - and there are so many wall edges in the kitchen alone!  All of this took a long time!

But late afternoon he was able to start priming.  Again, the first step is to go around all those many edges with the paintbrush to make sure he gets a good coating.

Then with the roller he goes around all of the edges once more, priming the tops of the wall again after the plastering/sanding process.

Then it's time to start priming!

Jim's plan was to come home so that he could watch the last half of the Cavs first playoff game.  However, a quick check of the score found them losing badly so he stayed and continued priming.  He was able to get all of the kitchen and hallway ceiling finished - much more satisfying than the Cavs game was!
