6.20.2017

Because we had to be out of our house and move from Ohio to New York in 3 weeks after we sold it, we ended up not having enough time to go through boxes and weed things out.  We still don't have time for that but Julia and I went through a few boxes before moving them up in the attic.  I went through some boxes we had here in the apartment of things we were thinking we would sell on eBay sometime.  Today it felt good to take some boxes to Salvation Army and to the consignment shop here in town.  Just a drop in the bucket but a start!

Jim worked this morning on doing more insulation work on the valley rafters.  He got all the box rafters made and installed on the kitchen side of this wall.

He then moved over to the other valley rafter and drilled the big ventilation holes.  Then he started making the foam offset pieces and fastening them down.

After lunch, we got back to work on siding...

We got about 2-1/2 rows of siding done - then it was time to make more corner trim flashing.

But first we had to move the scaffolding over and make sure it was level again.  Then Jim put up the flashing.  Unfortunately, right about this time a pop-up shower came along.  We scurried around picking up tools, closing apartment and car windows, and moving everything inside.  It didn't last long, but Jim decided not to set back up again.

Instead he went back to working on insulation...putting up more offset pieces.

By the end of the day, Jim got 2 more box baffles made and installed plus he got the foam pieces cut for the next one - making great progress!

Jim had planned to knock off a bit early today (is 5:00 really early?) and head into Lowe's.  He wanted to pick up the tubing for the water softener and a bag of loose insulation, along with more foam and caulk.  He was disappointed that they didn't carry the right type of tubing - so he's now struck out at 2 places.  He'll make some calls in the morning.
