Jim did more finish framing today - he worked on the other valley rafter in the kitchen.  There's so much work he did in this one area that it's hard to capture it all in a picture, but he got all of the nailer pieces on, including on the valley, as well as the wooden pieces that bring everything out to the same plane.  This entire face is now complete!  This is a huge accomplishment to have both of the valley rafters done and basically ready for drywall - Jim wasn't sure how he was going to do these and is happy with the solution he came up with.

He also did some blocking work in the kitchen.  The microwave will go above the stove and it's extremely heavy, so Jim wants to make sure that he has a solid backing board to fasten everything together.  Of course, this first required him to get the exact location of the microwave (how far above the stove which requires taking into account flooring).  He also had to figure out where the outlet will go as well as the vent.  You can see he put the receptacle box in - this will eventually be inside a cabinet, along with the vent.

I always make it sound easy that Jim just put up more blocking.  But a more detailed look at just this piece shows all the work involved.  One side of the blocking had the open web with the flange - in order for the blocking to fit tight, he had to cut a groove in the wood with the table saw.

On the other side, he had to make a clip angle in order to attach it.  After both of these modifications, he had to fasten everything together and even countersunk the screws to the studs so that everything would be flat.

This is a picture of the internet and tv path once it left all the room (and it's much more complicated than I could ever say!) - if you look carefully right below the top wall of the living room, you can see the white and black cables going across.  They needed to be kept separate from the power cables (the yellow) below.

Jim's next task was to run wire for the microwave - it will be on its own circuit.  Of course, he had to drill more holes...

This is the last wire to go through so of course it's the hardest because the opening is full!

Then Jim wired up the breaker box...

Then had to work backwards to the microwave receptacle, tying everything together as he goes.  After I left, he even got the receptacle all wired up.
