11.22.2015 - Front Roof Section Sheathed!

Once we got home from church this morning, we changed and headed back out to work on the roof.  Jim and Kyle went out first - by the time Julia and I got there, they were finishing up another course of sheathing!

We had a really good team working hard to get this done...Kyle and Julia are working on cutting out one of the angle pieces.

We had to build up another section of scaffolding so that Kyle could reach the sheathing and supplies up to Jim more easily.

Bringing up another piece...

They get it out onto the roof and then start sliding it down into position...

Jim has to move across on the toe boards while sliding the piece along...

Getting dark down below as Jim puts another piece into place...

The outside view...

Time to bring up more sheathing from the yard.  Kyle made this job so much easier for Jim than I do!

Kyle and Julia take some measurements for the next angle piece...

Putting in more screws...  Jim is still putting in as many screws as he can while trying to keep up with the cut pieces.  There are certain key places that he makes sure he has fastened down well on each piece.

Cutting the next piece...

Putting up the last piece on this course...

And starting the last course!

Julia working on marking the next piece to be cut.

Getting ready for the last piece...

...and putting it into place!

A tired and happy crew!

Kyle took a turn trying to put the screws in - and saw for himself how very difficult each screw is to push in, especially on such a steep roof!

At the end of the day, Jim and Kyle worked on bringing up the plywood that was in the yard - and Julia and I got it all stacked and covered underneath our newly-covered roof section.

The last look of the day...  We are so grateful that Kyle and Julia came up to help us accomplish our goal.  We had a lot of fun and put in long, tough work days - but it looks amazing and we so appreciate their help and company!

Another gorgeous sunset - the sky looked like it was on fire!
