9.25.2015

I hit the road a little after 6:00 this morning to get down to Sam's Club when they opened.  They were able to put a new valve stem on my tire while I did a little shopping.

Jim spent awhile this morning coming up with a design he liked for drip edge for the roof.  However, he has to do some research into metal roofs before we install it.  Each step of this project has so many ways you can turn - it's just about impossible to be the one doing all the work and have time for research, planning and project management too.

When I got to the property, Jim and I carried in all the rebar that I brought up yesterday.  Now it will be out of the weather until it's needed.

Then it was back to work on sheathing.  Here Jim is pushing up the next piece...

Cutting the angle in the next piece...

...and then putting it in place.

Doing some measurements for the next pieces...

Putting the next piece up...

The final piece on this side is in place!

From underneath, it's quite the majestic look.  We decided this picture makes it look like a church - quite appropriate for Angel!

Once Jim was done with the back side, he wanted me to experience what it was like to climb up the roof.  Well...it was terrifying.  Getting up wasn't so horrible but the thought of carrying a sheet of heavy sheathing while climbing or actually working while I was up there was out of the question.  The worst part was coming down!  Jim said....just let your foot slide down.  Really?  Sliding down a roof isn't in my DNA.  But I got down.  Whew.

After we were both back on solid ground, it was time once again to take down the scaffolding.  We had to move the pieces twice - once to the side so that we could get the Bobcat around to the front of the building.

Then we had to bring all the pieces over to the side and reassemble.  As you can see, there's not much room on this side - it's a steep embankment on the left.  Which will make working up high on this side even worse - you're really going to feel like you are extremely high off the ground.

At the end of the day, Jim had to put his automotive hat back on and put the tire back on my car.

Another day of good progress - we're anxious to get back to it tomorrow.
