Clean up day!  The forms looked great at the start of the day - certainly a lot to celebrate!  But there was a lot of clean up/take apart work to be done.

After spending a little time putting away all of the tools and equipment from the pour yesterday and reorganizing the truck and shed, Jim got busy taking apart all of the form stabilizers.  That was a lot of work because there were a lot of different stabilizers!

I spent the day working on removing all of the tape that we had put over the keys.  The long pieces were pretty easy to remove - the individual keys were tough.  This is what they looked like...

I told Jim that I felt like either an archeologist or a dental hygienist!  Basically I had to try and pull the tape off that you could and then pick out all the cement that had seeped into the areas.  If I would have known how difficult this job would be, I would have taped them differently to begin with!

I got two sides done - one left for tomorrow's job.  The next course has to be able to snap down onto these keys, so it's important that they be cleaned out.

Jim was thrilled with the way the cement looked on those areas where you could see a side view.  All the vibrating did the job - it came out great!

After Jim got done taking all the stabilizers off the forms, he started putting the next course in place.  The site looks amazing!

We were sad that we forgot to etch our names into the cement last night.  So Jim improvised with a marker!

After Kyle saw this picture, he said that we have to come up with a Star Trek name for Julia...can't believe we haven't done that before!  Tasha Yar, maybe?
