8.14.2014

After a rainy day yesterday, we thought the site might be muddy but it was in really good shape.  It was much cooler today - it got warm if you were working but probably didn't make it out of the 60s.

Jim continues to build up the Nudura - here he's carrying steel to put inside.

Some of these corners are tricky to get everything figured out.

After lunch, I worked on cleaning the front wall getting it ready to attach the waterproofing membrane.  First, any cement that splashed on the wall had to be scraped off.  Then I took a stiff brush and went over the entire wall.  This takes off any oxidation that occurred from being exposed to the sunlight.

Then I cut pieces of the membrane and we attached a few.  This was not quite as easy as it sounds - again, it has a paper backing but is extremely sticky so with such big pieces, Jim and I worked together to attach them.

After it is on the wall, Jim took an adhesive roller that I just bought at Home Depot this morning to go over the membrane, getting out any air bubbles and making sure it attaches completely to the Nudura.

We got four pieces on before Jim went back to work on the courses.

Quite the balancing act in the corner!

At the end of the day, four courses are almost complete all the way around!

The birds-eye view...
