6.18.2022

Jim did some millwork this morning on the cabinet pieces...

But then he headed outside to get started on lean to work.  Jim is going to have to take off the existing metal siding - he'll use it on the outside of the lean to.  He bought wood siding that will go on this wall that won't get scratched or dented by the tools that will be stored inside.

He wanted to use the Bobcat to help place the first post or two, so he used these toe boards fastened to either side of the post...

Then he brought it over to the Bobcat with the forks on...

Then he was able to lift up the post...

And place it in the hole...

No pictures obviously because once he got the post in the hole, I held it in place while he made sure it was in the right position and plumb.  Then he could start filling the hole with dirt...

Repeating the process for the second post...

Carefully maneuvering the post into the right area...

For the next post, Jim and I carried it over to the hole.  He had a piece of wood that he used to slide the post into the hole without caving it in...

That worked really well so we did the same for the last post...

Unfortunately, Jim ran into more rock issues trying to get this last post in the right spot.  This big rock that is close to Jim's foot had just its end sticking out a bit where he wanted to place the post - but it ended up being this enormous rock that took awhile to get out!

It was hard to hold this last post perfectly in order to get it straight and plumb so Jim put up some bracing to make sure we had it accurate...

Time to fill in the hole!

Mom was out watching - but it was pretty cold and windy!  Love that kind of weather in June!
