7.11.2019

I had to run into Saratoga today for some grocery errands.  Today is Opening Day at the Saratoga Race Track so there was definitely more of a buzz in the area.

Unbeknownst to me, while I was gone, Jim fixed the bathroom picture that fell off and broke the glass.  I'm still amazed that it didn't do one bit of damage to the frame.  I stopped at a craft store and asked how much they would charge to put a new piece of glass in it - $75!  How insane is that?  When I got home - Jim had put a piece of plexiglass in it and it looks perfect.  I'll be glad to have it hanging back up again soon!

Jim worked on the soffit while I was gone and got it all in place - looks great!

He made a little modification to the flashing that will go over the top of the siding and was trying it out.  Fits great so he made more of that.

There were some light showers on and off this afternoon, so Jim used the rainy moments to work inside the pole barn, rearranging things.  He moved the mortar mixer out and got it started.  He had to work at it a bit - it's been sitting outside for years! - but he got it started and let it run for a bit.  Since we won't be needing that for awhile, Jim switched places with the chipper and tucked the mixer into the corner.

Jim took a little time this afternoon in between raindrops and did some trimming - things grow quickly and he likes to keep on top of it.  Look how good our new grass looks behind the carriage house!

Only Jim would be out working in the rain with the chain saw cutting up old boards to put in the trash!

Jim ordered our Corian almost three weeks ago; we received the adhesive but nothing else so I called the company this afternoon.  It was a good thing I did - after investigating and someone else calling me back, the guy said he had been trying to call Jim and left voicemails (not true and never sent an email) because our address is residential.  Meanwhile, the order receipt we have said that shipping would be in 3-5 days and we never heard from anyone.  Plus the shipping amount Jim paid was wrong because of the type of delivery it will have to be - which was a factor when Jim went with this company.  I eventually handed the phone over to Jim who explained that he absolutely can take delivery at the street with no problem.  The person was supposed to requote the shipping price and email Jim.  We'll see how all that works out.  Good thing Jim keeps multiple jobs going at once; otherwise, he would be in a bind waiting!

On another note, when Jim changed the water softener filter, he figured out that the two of us are using a total of 76 gallons of water per day.  We looked it up and the average person uses 100 gallons of water a day - so we are doing great at conserving water without really trying hard!
High 80/Low 65 - few showers in afternoon
