12.11.2016

Today is our 27th wedding anniversary!  We are so happy and grateful to be on this crazy adventure together!

Which brings me to another point...it's another bitterly cold day with 4-8" of snow forecast for later on.  It's our anniversary, it's cold, and it's a shorter day because of church, so it would be the perfect opportunity to just stay home and relax or go out for dinner.  However, it is very motivating to look back at this blog or the calendar that Kyle & Julia made for us and see how far we have come.  This pretty much sums up our feelings...

We ate lunch for the first time in the apartment!

We started work today on the bathroom walls.  Jim put up the first stud on the double wall.

Then the focus was on how to build the wall on the other side.  This is an outside wall so Jim needs to be able to insulate here so he needs space for that.  He started by attaching pieces of track to the studs on the outside wall to use as mounting plates.

Then he cut a stud to attach to those mounting plates.

Then he attached a piece of track to the stud for the top of the wall...

Next it was time to figure out the bottom wall.  Jim is going to build storage space next to the shower so we needed to figure out where we wanted the knee wall, taking into account that the main stack will be coming up in this area.

Using a stud to measure how far the wall will come out...

Once placement was determined, Jim cut the lower wall plate and put glue down...

Then the wall plate...

All fastened down...

The next wall plate is cut and ready to be glued down.

At this point I had to leave, but Jim got the other wall plate fastened down and the first studs cut for the wall!  It's really fun to start seeing these rooms take shape.

High 28/Low 23 (winter weather advisory out for 4-8" of snow tonight)
