1.18.2023

Today was the calm before the storm - we are supposed to get some snowy weather over the next few days.  I had to take a mailing to the post office and Mom and I did grocery pickups while we were out.

Our previous almond outlets and receptacle didn't work with our white subway tile, so Jim made some modifications today.  He put in a new white light with and installed a new receptacle with a USB connection so he can plug in his toothbrush and free up outlet space.  A very nice feature!

Then onto the tile saga.  Once we determined the tile we wanted for the kitchen, we had to order it.  Not as easy as it sounds.  Weirdly enough, it was cheaper to order them individually rather than by the case.  However, you can't order individual ones to be shipped.  And all the surrounding stores didn't have enough.  Jim found a Home Depot in Amsterdam that had enough so he placed the order.  However, when the order was confirmed and pickup notice sent, it was only for 31 tiles.  The Saratoga store was supposed to have 15 so he ordered the remainder he needed there.  Again because of the impending weather, he took off after lunch for Amsterdam - about a 40 minute drive south.  Then he headed to Saratoga, where he also discovered that they only had half of what he ordered.  When Jim unpacked them, there were 4 tiles that were totally different from the others - the package looks waterlogged or something - so those have to go back and be exchanged.  So we're a bit short and will figure that out one way or the other, but he has enough to get started.  We have to pick out the edging pieces too - Jim is exploring options online.
