11.10.2016

When I got to the property today, I got to see all of the electric work Jim got done yesterday.  He now has the GFI outlets working downstairs.

Jim had to come up with a way to mount the receptacle box in the stairwell so that it was at the right position.  Unfortunately, the right position is in the middle of two studs with flanges - so there was no way to attach the box.  He came up with this idea but it's not as easy as it looks - he had to make angle pieces to attach it and then he had to basically try and build it inside the cavity.  But it worked and he's happy with it.

So then he had to do the same upstairs - this is the first receptacle box in the apartment!  This will operate the lights in the stairwell so it needed to be done for that circuit.  You can also see that he has a working outlet on the landing too.

Jim took the metal detector out for a quick break when he was having trouble with mounting the boxes.  In about 15 minutes, he had found a part of this horseshoe!  This is the second horseshoe we've found on the property - they are supposed to be good luck!  This one is very old which is so cool.

Then it was back to shingle work...

Yikes - Jim is standing on top of tools trying to investigate where the screws are hitting the strapping!

Making good progress...

He's now at the point of needing step flashing to go higher - so he's bending up the next piece.

Installing the step flashing - again one of those precarious positions.  He has to lean on the roof and then out to the valley.

Once that row was done, it was time to build up more scaffolding.

Once the scaffolding was in place, he had to bring up the really long planks that he will use as a bridge to the roof.

Fastening all the planks together and to the platform to make sure everything stays secure.

It was a gorgeous sunset at Angel...we feel so blessed to be able to look out at this view every day!
