8.5.2025

This afternoon, we worked up by the shed on our slate pile.  When we were living in the apartment while we built the house, the house next door got a new roof and was giving away some of the slate.  At the time, we thought we might build a little chapel in the wood and this slate would make a perfect roof.  But we have lots of other more important projects at the moment, plus our composite slate is much easier to work with.  So Jim is going to put this on Craigslist to see if we get any takers.

However, we wanted to move it out of the way so that any potential buyers don't have to come so far onto the property.  Jim brought up the pallet from the steel siding and we started moving the slate.  However, it's been sitting outside for many years now, so we brushed off both sides of each piece before moving it onto the pallet...

All done - we have approximately 200 full pieces as well as some smaller ones.

Jim moved them very slowly down the hill...

We tucked them into the edge of the woods and covered it up to keep them out of the weather.  Mission accomplished!
