2.12.2023

Sunday mornings always go by so quickly - we do relax a bit after pancakes, which is so nice!  Also, we got to see the return of some wildlife - at one point, there were 8 deer and a whole flock of turkeys in the yard, seeking out the grass where the snow has melted.

Jim also brought up all the rest of the empty Christmas dishes and took down the snowman tubs.  Mom and I packed all the dishes away in the afternoon.  He'll work on bringing up the Depression glass next.  That's a ton of work to bring heavy dishes up and down so many flights of stairs!

Back in the shop, Jim was making more thin supports to go on either side of the inner frame for the bench, cutting one of the regular ones in half lengthwise on the bandsaw...

Then putting it through the planer until it was the right size...

You can see how it slots in right between the wood and the steel...

That will allow him to put plywood on top and it will be supported well at the edges and corners...

Gluing up more wood...

Now it's time to work on fabricating the bench frame for the other side - double-checking measurements...

Doing some grinding...

The frame is basically cut and sized now!

You can see a taillight in the above picture - Jim is starting to take apart the 4Runner hatch he just bought to salvage some pieces for resell as well as get the parts he needs...
